Software
Doppler Systems furnishes radio direction finder (RDF) software packages with our products. Our software provides users with powerful tools for collecting and displaying the data obtained from the radio direction finder. The latest versions are always available on our downloads page.
MPT User Interface is a basic tool that configures the DDF7001 direction finder and provides basic data collection. This radio direction finder software program runs on a standard personal computer running Windows 10 or 11. This software is provided to all users at no cost. Our TargetTrack 4 software suite is designed for Signal and Communications intelligence professionals who require signal receptions to be archived in a database to be retrieved for post collection analysis or for use as evidence. TargetTrack 4 provides real time control and data acquisition. For example, it graphically displays the data from multiple networked direction finding sites on a map and plots the bearings in real-time. TargetTrack 4 offers additional features such as database archiving of signal receptions and recording and playback of the received audio. For a more detailed description click here.
DF Software FAQs
What is the difference between homing and geolocation?
Software used for homing simply points the user in the direction of the RF transmission. In a mobile environment our MPT User Interface software display points toward the source of the transmission relative to the vehicle. Geolocation requires multiple bearing measurements (at least 2) from different locations. Digital signal processing algorithms use the multiple bearings to estimate the location and the uncertainty of the estimated location.
Do I need multiple direction finders?
For mobile homing and mobile geolocation only one direction finder is required. Nearly instantaneous geolocation (mobile or fixed sites) requires at least two (but preferably three) direction finders.
What industries typically use radio direction finding software?
Radio direction finders are used by anyone needing to locate a radio frequency transmitter. Typical users include
- Public service radio professionals
- Law enforcement
- Air traffic controllers
- Harbor masters
- Government agencies
